He attended the University of Idaho, largely paying for his own education by working in the woods during the summers.Ignoring the advice of his parents to "pursue any career besides forest management," he settled in the College of Natural Resources, where he made the dean's list as an outstanding scholar, graduating with his degree in forestry. Kyle loved the woods and everything associated with that lifestyle.Kyle and Jen met at a Wetmore family reunion in 2000.
Casey started her career working in the Alumni Office at the U of I while Dan finished school and she continued on this professional path to be a very accomplished fund raiser in multiple roles for the U of I and WSU in Pullman, WA.
In 2007, Fred met Julie Weissenfels and they were married in 2011. He would meet with his friends at Deano's in Orofino every day he was not working.
They made their home in Orofino until August 2013, when they moved to Clarkston. When he moved to Clarkston, WA, the meetings continued on a weekly basis with the Pierce boys (his classmates and friends). She spent the first six years of her life in Orofino then moved with her Mother to Boise where she attended grade school.
His mother married Charlie Matthews, and the family moved to Pierce in 1948.
Fred and Elaine then got more siblings: Wayne Matthews, David Matthews, Linda Matthews and Thomas Matthews.
