I'm in the US so not directly comparable, but November-December have been very slow for me for SAL and EMS coming to me from Japan, and e-packet and other mail from China and Hong Kong.Things are taking 5-7 days just to clear customs, not because of any issues but because they are simply slammed.“We certainly don’t make money on these items, but we are members of the UPU and support the access it gives Canadians,” Hamilton said.If you want your packages sooner, you can pay extra for shipping.Canada Post has since admitted to a delay in processing because of the glut of packages being mailed from Asia, often too small and hard to read for machines.Jon Hamilton, a spokesperson for the agency, says parcels mailed from China are a low priority since the country doesn’t pay anything in shipping costs because of international postal treaties. So is anyone having issues tracking parcels from Japan with Canada Post recently?
"Due to the busy holiday season, we are seeing higher-than-expected volumes. It also occasionally updates when it arrives in Canada (Vancouver for me usually). It's not as good as Canada Posts tracking system (when it worked for SAL) but it's better then nothing. One of my shipments is sitting in my local DHL office scheduled to be delivered to me in January. Because they have no particular delivery time requirement and they simply feel no need to do it sooner. As others have mentioned, it's just that Canada Post axed RSAL tracking.I'm still kinda sore about it since the Japan site hasn't worked yet to let me figure out what day it's supposed to arrive (my post office is weird).Canada Post is no doubt also getting slammed right now.It doesn't sound like the USPS or Canada Post really care about expediting anything this time of year and I know the USPS side is not increasing staff. We’ve devoted extra resources to serve Canadians throughout this peak time.We apologize to anyone who experiences a delay." Anyway, I hope orders are just delayed and not lost. I have 3 separate parcels coming from Amiami which were all dispatched from customs on Dec 5th. Well like the others said SAL is no longer trackable. If your shipment is expected to be in transit for more than a day between tracking scans, we will display the day and date of the Next Expected Tracking Event in the Shipment Progress area. This message does not mean that your shipment is behind schedule or stopped moving; it simply means that the tracking label might not be scanned for a while.
